Queensland is Australia’s favourite getaway destination and Central Queensland (CQ) is fast emerging as a hotspot for holidaymakers, overnight guests, business visitors and long term residents.

Less than 40 minutes from Rockhampton City, Yeppoon is a beautiful coastal playground. Perfectly located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef, it’s the region’s lifestyle capital and the preferred residential address for the drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) workforce powering the CQ resources sector. Families are drawn to the excellent education, medical and retail services underpinning life in this idyllic coastal town.

Oshen, with its backdrop of spectacular ocean views, is perfectly positioned to capitalise on the escalating population and investment influx projected for CQ.

The CQ region is powering, with more than $177 billion in major projects and resources infrastructure underway or approved over the next decade according to research undertaken by Broad Property Research & Advisory. {Click here to download a copy of Research Reports}. Already, CQ needs another 975^ rooms to meet accommodation demands.

For workers in the resource-rich towns of Blackwater, Emerald, Biloela, Moranbah and Gladstone, Yeppoon is an easy commute. In addition to the DIDO workforce, latest census data shows 31.3% of workers living in Yeppoon commute daily to Rockhampton, up from 25% on 2006.

The region’s property prices are on the move, with reports of over 20% price growth in Gladstone on the back of demand for accommodation driven by LNG projects. Residential vacancy rates are tight and rental prices have also been ticking up, showing significant and steady growth. CQ already enjoys the highest room rate for the motel sector and serviced apartments in Queensland. Its average room rate for serviced apartments of $178.92 is well in excess of national and stage averages.

Qantas Link and Virgin Australia currently operate direct services from city centres around Australia to Rockhampton, an easy 40 minute drive from Yeppoon. Passenger numbers grew 9% in 2012 and are well over 750,000 per annum.
